Azotobacter or Azospirillum: which nitrogen fixer should you use?

Young seedling growing in rich dark soil with a green field behind it

Both Azotobacter and Azospirillum are nitrogen fixing bacteria, and both can help you cut urea use. The difference is in how they live around the plant.

Azotobacter (AZOBOOST Liquid)

Azotobacter is a free living nitrogen fixer. It works in the soil and root zone and suits a wide range of crops such as paddy, wheat, vegetables and fruits. It also produces growth hormones such as IAA and GA and can improve chlorophyll, giving a darker green leaf.

Azospirillum (NITROVEDA Liquid)

Azospirillum is an associative nitrogen fixer. It colonizes the area near the roots and works especially well with cereals, millets and grasses such as paddy, wheat, maize, bajra and sugarcane. It also secretes hormones that improve root and shoot growth.

How to choose

For cereals and sugarcane, NITROVEDA is the natural fit. For vegetables, fruits and mixed cropping, AZOBOOST works across the board. If you also want phosphorus and potash support in one product, look at TRIVEDA or RHIZOVAM.

Always follow the dose on the product page and use the mixed solution within 6 hours.
